Karen Haller, Colour Psychology Expert and author of The Little Book of Colour, exclusively told the Express: "Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, wearing purple subtly echoes its deep-rooted connection to royalty, power, and dignity.
Explaining further, she added: "Historically reserved for monarchs due to the rarity and cost of purple dye, the colour still carries a sense of regal distinction. Her choice reflects quiet strength and a modern expression of traditional royal symbolism."
At today's service, the 60-year-old paired the look with her staple nude-coloured Jimmy Choo heels. They're clearly a favourite as Sophie previously wore them in Nepal and also during her recent trip to Brussels.
The Duchess completed her look with the Sophie Habsburg ‘Lunatic Caviar’ clutch - which is also available in burgundy and black.
While key family members such as The Princess Royal and The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh have attended the service, the Prince and Princess of Wales, along with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, will spend the day at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk.
The family’s decision to miss the service for the second time in a row came after a source told The Daily Mirror: "They are choosing to spend time together as a family before the children go back to school.”
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh's daughter, 21-year-old Lady Louise Windsor, was also notably absent today.
