New photos reveal an emerging community of van dwellers taking up residence in Bristol near the Cribbs Causeway shopping hotspot. Recent arrivals have set up around 20 caravans in the vicinity of South Gloucestershire's retail park, located conveniently by an Asda store.
The vans form a new settlement along various roads next to a trampoline park and several warehouses, marking the latest area for such communities in Bristol. Startling statistics from Bristol City Council suggest that the population of van dwellers has surged by over 300%, from 150 in 2019 to an estimated 680 now.
Following resident grievances over rubbish and unruly conduct, particularly at Clifton Downs, authorities are contemplating a dedicated site for these mobile residents within their own borough.
A spokesperson for South Gloucestershire Council confirmed: "We are aware of the site and intend to complete further welfare visits to the location in the coming weeks in order to gain a better understanding of those occupying the highway and any needs they may have."
Inquiries at the newly populated site were met with silence, as no one wished to come forward with a statement.
