Piers Morgan has revealed he’s suffering from what he’s described as “acute” pain — but he still has no idea how it happened. The former Good Morning Britain host has been seen hobbling around in a foot cast after tearing a ligament in his ankle. He has now opened up on the state of his injury telling fans it’s “all very odd” and doctors are unnsure what caused the damage.
When asked what happened to his ankle on X, the Uncensored host told his 8.9million followers: “Bizarrely, I have no idea, despite also managing to partially tear an ankle ligament. "Docs’ theory is I must have done something while either boxing or golfing during the 48hrs before I flew to NY, but I only felt delayed pain after landing, and then it was acute. All very odd…” Naturally, fans were quick to offer their take — and a few cheeky digs. “It is called getting older sir! Best to you!!!” one wrote.
Another concerned follower added: “They checked for blood clots though right? Because to me this has DVT written all over it Piers. Get another opinion pronto just to be safe." A third chimed in with: “Fair play, Chief. Keep up the exercising and activities.”
While the mystery injury remains unsolved, Piers has continued to enjoy his time in the States.
Posting a snap to Instagram, the broadcaster stood outside a Beverly Hills building in full tourist mode — sunglasses on, coffee cup in hand — and captioned it: “Bootiful day in Beverly Hills.” His fans flooded the comments, with one asking: “Oh dear what happened?” and another joking: “What you done piers.”
His former Good Morning Britain co-host Charlotte Hawkins dropped a shocked-face emoji, while his son Spencer joked: “Always knew Bigfoot was real.” The outspoken TV presenter, 60, also made light of the situation after being spotted at a Lakers game in LA, where he posed for a photo with Anchorman star Will Ferrell.
Piers wrote: “The world’s most charismatic, fearless, sexy (recent polls don’t lie) and proudly inappropriate news anchorman… with Ron Burgundy. What a joy to bump into Hollywood’s funniest man Will Ferrell at the @lakers in LA. Obviously, he found my surgical boot (sprained ankle) hilarious.”
Piers Morgan was recently voted the UK’s sexiest male, according in a poll by Illicit Encounters — a dating website aimed at married people seeking an affair.
The married broadcaster overtook last year’s winner, former Top Gear presenter and Clarkson’s Farm star Jeremy Clarkson, 64.
Speaking to The Sun about the result, Morgan said: “This just proves that British women are the smartest and most discerning in the world, and the most likely to appreciate genuinely magnetic sex appeal.”
Other names on the top list included Dermot O’Leary, Danny Dyer, Tim Lovejoy, Jonathan Ross, Ben Shephard, Romesh Ranganathan and Bob Mortimer.
