Lucy Beaumont is reportedly gearing up for a major career comeback with buzz that she's joining the inaugural lineup of Celebrity Traitors. Since announcing the end of her marriage to Jon Richardson last year, the comedian has maintained a low profile but now appears to be eyeing a television resurgence.
Rumour has it she's eager to dive back into the limelight and might be rubbing shoulders with stars in a show brimming with deception. Good Morning Britain's very own Kate Garraway has also been recently linked to the programme, potentially joining the illustrious list of participants such as rugby's Joe Marler, national treasures Stephen Fry, Tom Daley, Clare Balding, and broadcasting guru Robert Peston.
Comedy giants Alan Carr and Jennifer Saunders, alongside the inimitable Paloma Faith, are purportedly contending for spots, with producers believing Lucy will fit right in.
An insider revealed to The Sun: "Lucy is a massive fan of the show and is so excited about getting stuck in at Ardross Castle. After her split from Jon, she has been working really hard to make more of a name for herself and Celebrity Traitors is the ideal opportunity."
Fans were blindsided by the couple's separation, particularly as the duo had cemented their status as a heavyweight couple following their joint project, Meet The Richardsons, in 2020. At the time they parted ways, they issued a joint statement saying: "We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways," reports The Mirror.
Lucy first addressed the couple's split in September, when she spoke candidly about their relationship, citing Jon's stubbornness as a major issue in an interview with OK! Magazine, she explained: "People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won't, and not because there's any animosity."
Lucy also discussed her newfound approach to life in her 40s, saying: "I don't feel any different really, just a bit angrier and not willing to take any s**t from anyone."
Meanwhile, Jon, 42, took to Instagram to share a lighthearted update with his fans, joking about his hiatus from stand-up comedy. Filming himself on a walk, he quipped: "I just thought I'd give you a little update. I don't really do social media updates, and I'll tell you why - because I don't think anyone cares. But I have a little bit of news. I've obviously been taking a little bit of a break from stand-up, and it's really made me... want to carry on taking a break from stand-up."
The broadcaster revealed a poignant moment of reflection, saying: "I've been thinking a lot about a diary entry that I found from 1997."
He then shared an excerpt from his teenage years on screen, where he mused at age 14: "It's this one. I was 14 years old, it says although I would love to be a stand-up comedian, I'll probably end up being a teacher. And I've been thinking a lot about that."
He expressed contentment with his career choice, stating, "I've loved being a comedian; it was absolutely the right choice. But I've decided it would've been nice to try the other option, so that's exactly what I'm going to do." [sic]
In a surprising twist, he announced his new career path: "I've been doing some training, I've taken a teaching position. I will update you as and when I can. But that's all from me for now, just to let you know where I've been. I'll keep you posted."
