Brooklyn Beckham is facing a new wave of criticism after being slammed for snubbing his mum, Victoria’s birthday. The 26-year-old aspiring chef, who is the eldest child of David and Victoria Beckham, is being slammed online this week after skipping his mum’s lavish 51st birthday bash to party at Coachella with wife Nicola Peltz and a group of friends. But while fans were still reeling from the birthday snub, fresh criticism rolled in — this time aimed squarely at Brooklyn’s luxury hot sauce brand, Cloud23.
The model-turned-photographer-turned-chef launched the sauce late last year, promoting it as a premium condiment exclusively available at Whole Foods in the UK. But fans aren’t convinced — with many slamming the £15 price tag and branding the bottle design a disaster. Fans tore into the look of the product, saying: “Looks like someone repurposed gin bottles.” Another penned: “Looks like it could be some Italian labeling and I’d think it was marinara at first glance.”
It didn’t stop there. “Terrible branding. I taste soap just looking at those bottles,” slammed a fan, while more added: “Holy s**t what horrible packaging, it looks like a bottle of perfume or bath soap” and “I think it’s the aesthetic of a print you’d see hanging on your grandmother’s living room wall.”
And while a handful of buyers praised the flavour, others were less forgiving. “Tried a free sample at Whole Foods, thank goodness so I didn’t have to buy it. Tasted incredibly artificial,” one critic wrote.
Another blasted the price: “It is a strange bottle to brand hot sauce. Looks more like a gin bottle. And no way is a hot sauce worth £15. That is ridiculous.”
Others pointed out more affordable alternatives, slamming: “Go to Costco and buy the restaurant-sized 1 litre bottles of medium Nando’s sauce for between £5 and £10 or buy two huge bottles of Frank’s wing sauce for under £10.”
More agreed, blasting: “The world has a shedload of tasty and cheap hot sauce to choose from.
“Of course it isn't worth 15 quid a go. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of really good hot sauces available at a fraction of the price.”
Cloud23 — a nod to the No.23 jersey worn by dad David at Real Madrid and LA Galaxy — comes in two flavours: Sweet Jalapeño and Hot Habanero.
Speaking to Delish magazine during the launch, Brooklyn explained: “I did my research and I just felt like there was this hole in the market with luxury condiments, especially for a really good price.”
But a blind taste test didn’t help his case either. One reviewer guessed his sauce was the cheapest in a line-up and added:
“This one actually looks really disappointing.
"It shouldn't be separating the way it is. I don't know what it is in that. It's just not giving. It's very spicy. it's just not doing anything for me.”
