In a brutal daylight attack, a man was hospitalised after reportedly having his "throat slashed" on the streets of Glasgow. The incident unfolded on Stravanan Road in Castlemilk, with emergency services descending upon the scene shortly after 3.15pm on Monday, April 21, following reports of a serious assault on a 31 year old male.
According to sources close to The Record, the victim suffered a severe laceration to his throat. Paramedics swiftly provided aid, and the injured man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for urgent care, where his injuries were deemed serious but not life-threatening.
Police cordoned off a significant area as they commenced their investigation into the violent episode last night, reports the Daily Record.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities are urging anyone with information to step forward. Despite the shocking nature of the crime, police have reassured the public that there is no perceived threat to community safety, although locals can expect to see an increased police presence as detectives continue their probe.
Detective Inspector Jonny MacKinnon from Cathcart CID has commented on the ongoing inquiry: "Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this attack are ongoing, however we do not believe there to be any risk to the wider community."
He further emphasised the heightened police activity in the vicinity: "There will be an increased police presence in the area as the investigation progresses." DI MacKinnon also appealed to potential witnesses: "We would ask anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed anything suspicious, or if you may have CCTV or dashcam footage from around the time of the incident, to please come forward."
