Weather maps are turning orange with Britain set to be hit with a six-day scorcher. Netweather has forecast summery weather to hit the UK for six days starting later this week (April 27 to May 2), bringing with it high temperatures.
On Sunday (April 27), it will be warmest in England, with all but the northwest (Carlisle) and southwest (Plymouth) seeing between 16C and 18C. The northwest, southwest, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland will be cooler with temperatures between 11C and 15C. Wednesday (April 30) will be the hottest with temperatures reaching 21C in Liverpool. It will hit 20C in Inverness, Exeter, Bournemouth, and Portsmouth. Temperatures will sit between 17C and 19C across the rest of the UK, excluding the east coast and central Scotland, where it will be around 15C.
On day six (May 2), temperatures will be highest in the Midlands (Birmingham, Nottingham) and the south of England (London, Southampton) with highs of 18C. It will be slightly cooler in the north of England (Newcastle, Carlisle), Wales, Northern Ireland, the southwest of England (Plymouth, Exeter), and much of Scotland.
The Met Office said of the period: “Starting off with something of a northwest to southeast split; higher pressure located towards the southeast should bring fine and increasingly warm conditions across at least southern UK, whilst there is a greater chance of periods of cloud, rain and stronger winds affecting the north.
“There will be fine weather here at times as well too however. There's a small chance that fine and very warm weather could extend right across the country early next week, but it's more likely that cloud/rain in the northwest will sink southeast introducing more changeable and cooler conditions for a time mid-week.
“It then becomes roughly equal chances that we see a resumption of mainly fine and dry conditions versus a continuation of more changeable weather with a mixture of rain and drier interludes.”
Today:
Rain will clear to the south during the morning, but will leave behind a good deal of cloud and some showers in the south. A mix of sunshine and a few showers across the north. Feeling pleasant in any sunshine.
Tonight:
Showers and outbreaks of rain mostly fading away overnight, but low cloud from the North Sea will spread across many eastern and central areas. Turning chilly where skies remain clear.
Thursday:
A dull start in eastern and central areas, with perhaps some patchy drizzle. Bright spells in the west though will spread eastwards throughout the day. Warm in the west.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday:
Dry start on Friday, but rain gradually moving into western areas. Rain or showers more widely on Saturday, before drier and warmer weather begins to develop in the south Sunday.
