American TV personality Ellen DeGeneres has offered fans their first glimpse into her life across the pond with a snapshot of her new countryside retreat in the Cotswolds. The former talk show legend, 67, made headlines last year when she relocated to the UK with her wife, Portia de Rossi.
Though the move was initially rumoured to be a response to Donald Trump’s 2024 election win, the Sun revealed the couple had already snapped up the multi-million pound property before ballots were even cast. After months of keeping a low profile in their new home, Ellen has taken to social media to share an image of her new local area. The photo, which she posted on Easter Monday, shows Portia midway through capturing a snap of a rainbow in the distance.
Ellen captioned the post: "Three things that make me happy. My wife, a rainbow and my wife taking a photograph of a rainbow."
The couple's £14 million farmhouse is rumoured to be as expansive as it is secluded. Although interior shots are under wraps for the moment, fans have been speculating about what design changes the aesthetically conscious pair might have made to their new home.
This new life has been a significant shift for the Emmy-winning talk show host, who spent a lot of her life curating a high end real estate portfolio across California.
Ellen sold her Montecito property just last month, in a move that seems to mark a complete departure from her American holdings. One of her few remaining ties to the US is an investment property that is still on the market in her birthplace.
Although there is a lot of allure to a quiet life in the British countryside, Ellen's fresh start hasn't come without complications.
Reports suggest the area around the couple's Cotswolds estate suffered from flooding last year. The American TV personality also came under fire for adding an extension to her farmhouse which local councillors worried had disturbed Roman remains.
Despite that, the lovebirds seem to be embracing their new chapter. Locals have occasionally spotted the pair enjoying village life. Ellen and Arrested Development star Portia were seen visiting Jeremy Clarkson's pub, The Farmer's Dog, last November.
They were spotted enjoying a pint and some live music with singer Natalie Imbruglia, Lisa Hogan, and British songwriter James Blunt.
