Princess Kate is considered to be one of the most popular members of the Royal Family and is often recognised for her heartwarming smile, her perfect hair and her stunning engagement ring. Having once belonged to Prince William’s mother the late Diana, Princess of Wales, the ring holds significant meaning for the family and is too big and impressive to miss.
That’s why royal fans have been scratching their heads over the last 12 months when they have seen Kate out and about without the iconic ring on occasion, instead replaced with more subtle jewellery. This change has been noticed over the last year following Kate’s cancer diagnosis, with her cancer now in remission.
While some may question why the ring is worn less frequently, it has been noticed that in its place now sits three stunning eternity rings - all of which still have a nod to her husband William, and are a lot more discreet.
According to leading diamond experts at UK retailer Steven Stone, the rings are worth around £7,200 in total and are all believed to be gifts from The Prince of Wales.
One of the rings, a white gold adorned with diamonds, is believed to have been given to the princess to celebrate the birth of their eldest son Prince George, who is now 11. The ring is believed to be worth around £1,500.
The princess now wears this alongside a slim white diamond band ring and a mixed sapphire and diamond band, believed to be the Étincelle de Cartier wedding band.
Kate has not opened up about why she has been wearing her engagement ring less and less, but it is likely to be for convenience purposes, with the princess still wearing jewellery that hold sentimental meanings from her husband.
Maxwell Stone from UK retailer Steven Stone said: "Despite having been seen wearing her engagement ring less frequently in recent months, the Princess of Wales has continued to show her love and commitment to Prince William in other ways.
“She appears to have been regularly wearing the eternity ring he gifted her to celebrate Prince George’s birth. Crafted from 18ct white gold with a high-polish finish, the ring is adorned with 0.23ct of diamonds and retails for £1,500.
“Recently, the Princess has also been spotted wearing two additional eternity rings – a slim white diamond band, and a mixed sapphire and diamond band. While the former remains unidentified, it’s likely to be worth around £1,000, while the latter appears to be the Étincelle de Cartier wedding band.
“Featuring 19 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 0.24 carats and 19 brilliant-cut sapphires totalling 0.34 carats, the exquisite piece retails at £4,700.”
