Princess Charlotte may still be nine years old and have a few years ahead of her until she changes schools; however, the lucky institution she will be enrolled in has been the subject of various discussions over the years. The children of the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are currently attending Lambrook School, a leading co-educational school set in 52 acres of Berkshire countryside.

The prestigious school is close to their home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor. However, despite various institutions being popular candidates for the Wales children, like Eton College and Marlborough College - their parents' alma matters - there is another school that Charlotte could go to - which once was the academic choice for Lady Louise Windsor, who's often dubbed the George, Charlotte and Louis's "royal best friend".

The prestigious school in Ascot could be seen as a good choice for Prince William and Princess Kate, as it is close to their home in Windsor and to Eton College, if the royals decide to send George and Louis there.

St Mary's is an independent day and boarding girls school and a member of the Girls' Schools Association.

It is said to only take a small number of students each year and is where Lady Louise completed her A-Levels. Another royal who attended the prestigious school is Princess Margaret's granddaughter, Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones.

The school charges £15,000 per term for day boarding, which costs £45,000 per year and £21,060 per term for full boarding, which is £63,180 annually.

Lady Louise has been close to the Wales family and could certainly provide an influence in Charlotte's schooling.

A royal insider told the Sun in 2019: "The [late] Queen loves the fact that Louise and James relish their time at Balmoral, and she has become particularly close to Louise, who seems to have become her favourite grandchild, closely followed by James,” the insider told the Sun in 2019.

"Louise also endeared herself to everyone by looking after William and Kate’s children when they were up here.

"Louise loves drawing and sketching and was very patiently trying to get Charlotte to do pictures of rabbits and deer."
