Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's pal, José Andrés, has hit out at backlash against the Sussex couple and praised them for all "the good things that they do". The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have received various waves of negative publicity just this year alone.
In January, the couple's philanthropic efforts in Los Angeles during their visit to volunteer after the devastating California wildfires were criticised by various royal watchers and A-listers, with Hollywood actress Justine Bateman dubbing them "disaster tourists". Most recently, the couple were savaged after they were spotted moving around in New York with a four-car motorcade.
But Michelin-starred chef José Andrés said he was "baffled" the "hate" aimed towards the Montecito couple and claimed they are "friends" and "an amazing couple". The celebrity chef told Page Six: "I can only talk about the good things that they do. They could be in their own cave and do nothing [after quitting as senior working royals]. [But they want to] bring voice and life to issues. When they were in LA during the fires, they were genuinely in the fires. When the cameras were not rolling, they were there listening to people, and they made them feel like the most important person in the world."
