Jane Moore announced the end of her marriage in 2022 during a live broadcast on Loose Women. At the time the columnist explained she had been "processing their separation" with former husband Gary Farrow before making the news public. In a new conversation with her ITV co-host Sunetra Sarker the I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star spoke candidly about her "friendly divorce" three years on from their split. The 62-year-old explained the former couple, who share daughters Grace and Ellie, still get on "really well", even enjoying a Sunday lunch together as a family.
Jane admitted she was keen to "not throw away their friendship" despite calling time on their romance. Gary, who previously held the position of VP Communications at Sony record label, now runs a PR agency known as The Corporation Group. He married Jane in an extravagant ceremony at Claridge's Hotel in London in 2002. The Loose Women host gave a rare insight into their split admitting they "pulled the rug out" from under each other.
Sunetra asked: "How is it being divorced?"
Jane replied: "It's interesting because anybody listening to this who has got divorced will know that by the time people know about it you would have already been processing it for some time. Then you get all of the reaction from everybody but then you've actually been dealing with it behind the scenes.
I'm lucky that we managed to do it as amicably as possible. Obviously, there were moments where we would have some tense conversations because we were still living together and a lot of it was during lockdown."
She added on the Loose Women podcast: "But in a way lockdown was quite good for us because you're just their together and you can have organic conversations."
She admitted it wasn't "worse for her" during lockdown as she gave further details about their separation.
"We kind of withered on the vine," Jane explained. "We were sort of pulling the rug out over a long period together. It was a mutual thing."
Jane continued: "We talked at first about maybe just separating but then you think what's the point? Because at some point you've got to do all the paperwork so you might as well just jump off the cliff and do it.
"But the law changed so it became slightly easier to get divorced. You could apply online, a bit like applying for a passport."
She explained filling out a form and her former spouse getting an email notification while living in the same house.
At the time of their split, Jane told the Loose Women audience: "It's weird that it's out there [in public] because we've been processing it for about a year. So we're both quite private people. We had discussed it last year... it was going to happen last year. And then he fell and broke his leg, and, no, I didn't push him. Just want to put that out there. He fell and broke his leg. And obviously, then all bets are off.
"I would hope he would say I'm his best friend. And I'm keen that we don't lose that element. I have been sort of caring for him in that sense of the word. It's enabled us to sort of segue to process it first of all, and to sort of segue nicely into a really good friendship. We were still in the same house together, we are still going to do Christmas together."
