Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he has a new passion after being called into action at his Oxfordshire farm. The former Top Gear presenter, 65, who runs the 1,000-acre Diddly Squat farm, discovered unprecedented joy in assisting with calf births, even considering himself a "midwife" to cows. The Clarkson's Farm star was forced to get hands-on after one of his cows struggled to give birth last week. In his column for The Times, Jeremy Clarkson recalled how delivering the calf gave him "absolute joy".

He began: "I was on my own, and I don’t mind admitting I was nervous." He recounted having a "tug of war" with a calf who was stuck for 90 minutes. "I pulled until it felt like my eyes were bleeding. Until, phloomh, the calf was out," he wrote. The Grand Tour star painted a picture of his first actions post-delivery, explaining: "I rushed over to it, scraping the gunk - again, I'm not sure that's the correct term - from its face before putting a bit of straw up its nose to make it sneeze and start breathing. And it did."

Reflecting on this momentous event, Jeremy continued: "And I simply cannot tell you how that feels. I was exhausted, my arms felt as though they were on fire, I was covered in slimy cow juice and faeces and I was smiling a smile that I simply didn't think would be possible in any kind of workplace."

The Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? host admitted he doesn't know what would have happened if he wasn't there, before describing the calf as "the most adorable you've ever seen".

In yet another open-hearted admission, he highlighted his elation: "I was enveloped in a Ready Brek glow of absolute joy, from the soles of my feet to the follicles on the top of my head. I've had some happy moments in farming but nothing gets even remotely close to this."

"All I want to do from now on is to be a midwife. For cows," he declared.

It comes after Jeremy explained why Top Gear needs to return. The BBC series premiered in 2002, with Jeremy, James May and Richard Hammond at the helm.

However, in 2023, the BBC announced that the motoring show was on hiatus "for the foreseeable future" after a crash involving its presenter, Freddie Flintoff.

Despite Freddie suffering near-fatal injuries, Jeremy has called on broadcasters to reboot the series.

He said: “There’s room for a car programme at the moment because cars are changing so fast and electrical cars are coming along and nobody really understands what’s a good one and what isn’t," he told The Times.
