Now, at the age of 80, Dirk is defying the ageing process and looks to be in great shape still. Fans of the actor also rave about how youthful appears when they meet him at TV conventions.
The A-Team ran on NBC from January 1983 to March 1987 and it has been over 37 years since the famous four left TV screens. While it helped propel Dirk, he wasn't initially cast in the show.
A recognised war hero, Tim Dunigan played the role of Faceman in the pilot episode, but the show's creators thought he looked too young to be a believable Vietnam veteran.
He was also much taller than the rest of the cast and so was replaced by Dirk Benedict. Faceman was known for being the suave and smooth-talking team member who had all the luck with women.
He served as the team's con man and scrounger, somehow managing to get his hands on anything they needed using different disguises.
