Former Spice Girls star Geri Horner has named her favourite ever-book as she embarks on a "new chapter in her life". Geri made her name with the iconic girl group in the 1990s, but revealed she would now describe herself as a writer-producer rather than as a singer.
The 52-year-old told how she always loved reading as a child with historical novel The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, being her favourite as she got older. She told Hello! she always loved The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis and anything by Enid Blyton when she was younger.
Speaking to the magazine, Geri said: "I love all kinds (of books). When I was growing up my mother didn't have a lot of money, so I'd be reading a lot while everyone else was away on holiday.
"I remember sitting under a tree at the bottom of the garden reading. I loved how a book could transport you anywhere, and still do."
Geri found fame as one of the five members of the Spice Girls in the 1990s, earning her the nickname Ginger Spice. The band scored nine UK number one singles, catapulting Geri and her bandmates to superstardom.
The band split in 2000 before reuniting briefly for two tours. Mum-of-two Geri, who married Formula One executive Christian Horner in 2015, has seemingly now turned her back on music to concentrate on her writing.
She continued to Hello!: "I'm loving this chapter in my life. I love being a creator. Being in front of the camera is fun for five minutes, but I find writing much more rewarding."
Geri said she has sent copies of the books to her fellow Spice Girls - Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm - but she is yet to ask them for feedback.
Geri's second book in the Rosie Frost series, titled Rosie Frost: Ice on Fire, was released earlier this month. The series is a murder-mystery with the protagonist a redhead like Geri.
It comes after Mel B's cryptic social media post sparked rumours the band might get back together again.
Mel hinted that the women could make their musical comeback after disbanding in 2000. As they labelled it a "hiatus" and have collaborated multiple times since fans are certain they could another arena tour could be in the works. Together they enjoyed major success after selling 100 million records worldwide, making them the best-selling girl group of all time.
The 49-year-old shared a clip of herself casually scrolling through photos from the early stages of her career while riding in the back of a car.
Taking to the caption, the America's Got Talent judge wrote: "I'm Organising my pics, and it’s all Spice Girls, maybe it’s time to do it all over again?"
