Piers Morgan spoke to Ukrainian heavyweight boxing champ Oleksandr Usyk on his Uncensored show - and the infuriated sports star didn't hold back as he branded Donald Trump's proposed version of a peace deal to end the war "bulls***". A grave-looking Piers had informed him that as part of the deal, "it is believed that Ukraine will have to let Russia keep much of the territory which was taken illegally".
"This is bulls***!" he exclaimed, rolling his eyes back as he urged: "Hey, President Trump, open your eyes!" The boxer looked close to tears as he called for Trump to stop the war without imposing any restrictions on regaining land taken by Russia. "It's my territory - it's the territory of my country. These are my people!" he exclaimed. Piers retweeted a video excerpt from the interview, promising that the footage would air in full on the next episode of Uncensored this week.
He wrote: "BREAKING: An urgent message to the President of the United States from boxing’s World Heavyweight Champion and Ukraine’s sporting hero. Heavyweight world champion Oleksandr Usyk calls for Trump to stop the Ukraine war: 'What Russia is doing, the whole world knows is bulls***.'"
However, there was a harsh response in the comments section as one X user from the US claimed: "The Americans are not going to die for Ukraine. We don’t have enough to gain from doing so."
Another asked: "What's your solution? Keep fighting till they lose the whole country and its men?"
However, someone else predicted doom for both countries if the war continued, quizzing: "What exactly does he expect Trump to do? Barge in there and start WWIII? Ukraine is caught up in a war, which it is very slowly losing, though Russia does not appear to be too far away from complete economic collapse. What's the alternative to the current proposal?"
The comments come just a day after a Brazilian newspaper published the alleged terms Russia had set out as conditions for ending the war, including the "demilitarization of Ukraine" and guarantees that the country would not be allowed to join NATO.
Putin allegedly also called for international recognition of Crimea and four other annexed regions in Ukraine as belonging to Russia, plus the lifting of sanctions and return of frozen Russian assets.
However, many on X lamented that the terms would mean "the aggressor getting everything".
Meanwhile, Putin has announced a three-day May ceasefire, although critics are unconvinced that he will honour it.
