TOWIE star Pete Wicks has admitted that he doesn’t plan to continue dancing following his Strictly Come Dancing stint and said he'd only pick it up again on one condition.
The reality TV star admitted he had never watched Strictly before joining the show last year, yet he made it to the semi-final. The 36-year-old star made his name during seven years as a regular on The Only Way Is Essex before signing up for the BBC dance competition. After each round, audiences at home continued to support Pete and vote for him despite trailing at the bottom of the leaderboard. When he arrived at the semi-final of Strictly, Pete said he was "astonished" and "speechless." Comedian Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell later won the show.
Speaking exclusively with Express Online, he opened up about whether or not he'd continue dancing as a hobby. He said, "No, I think that's it. I don't think anyone wants to see me dance again."
He continued: "I mean, it was amazing for what it was, but I don't think I'll be taking out dancing any time soon. But you never know, if I dance, it will only ever be with Jowita because she was incredible. It's one of the best things that has come out of the whole show, and to meet people like Jowita and have a friendship with someone who's just world-class in what she does."
Pete also shared that he didn't ask anyone for advice before the show and decided to "give it his best" and see what happens: "I know it's a really cliché thing to say, the old journey stuff, but it is a bit of a journey because you're there for a long time, it's the most intense show you could do because you're learning a brand new skill in front of the nation, and yeah, it's a lot."
Pete has recently teamed up with Twix as they launch their new platform, ‘Two is more than one’, which nods to its classic two bar serving. Research shows over a third (36%) of Brits feel their bestie is always there when needed.
Twix has now unveiled the nation's favourite duos, with the likes of Laurel and Hardy (42%), Ant and Dec (31%) and Paul McCartney and John Lennon making the list. Twix has also partnered with Pete's close pal and fellow podcast host Sam Thompson, merging their surnames together and the pair came twelve on the list in the Nation’s Top 15 Unlikely Friendship Duos.
Pete said about the campaign, “We couldn’t be any more different, and that just works, so we (or more so Sam) jumped at the chance of combining our names. He’s gutted he didn’t think of it first. Though jokes aside, the best thing about our duo is we always have each other’s backs – and you can’t ask for more than that.”
