Police and bomb disposal experts are at a school in Norton, Teesside following reports that an artillery round was brought onto the ground. The scene unfolded at around 10.50am at Frederick Nattrass Primary School, with police liaising with bomb disposal experts at the scene.
Pupils and staff members have been evacuated from the school as a precaution, along with members of the public at nearby business premises. The experts at the scene are working to ensure the item is made safe.
Parents were urged to collect their children from the site in a post on Facebook shortly before 11:30am.
It read: "Please come and collect your children as soon as possible from the top entrance. Please do not come to the bottom gate.
"All children are safe and well."
