Elon Musk’s “double hat” caught the attention of Donald Trump during a meeting marking the president’s first 100 days in office. With cabinet members gathered around a table during the official meeting the president stopped to praise the billionaire’s hats saying he loved it.
Cabinet members had Gulf of America embroidered red and black caps placed in front of them on the table they were sitting around. During the meeting, Musk appeared preoccupied with his collection of hats - cycling through a DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) cap, a Gulf of America hat, ultimately choosing to stack them atop one another.
At one point, he adjusted the Gulf of America hat to fit over the DOGE cap, wearing both simultaneously.
“Elon I love the double hat," Trump said. Musk responded saying he wears a lot of hats, evoking laughter from the room. He said: "Well, Mr. President, as they say, I wear a lot of hats. Even my hat has a hat."
The world’s richest man then proceeded to take off both his hats and praise Trump, saying "a tremendous amount has been accomplished in the first 100 days".
He added: "This could be the greatest administration from the dawn of the country."
Trump then thanked Musk, saying he has sacrificed a lot and been "treated unfairly".
According to the BBC reporters in the White House say Musk has been fiddling with his hats throughout the meeting.
Musk told the president: "The people voted for secure borders, safe cities, and sensible spending and that's what they've gotten. A tremendous amount has been accomplished in the first 100 days."
Trump said that Musk could stay in his administration, "as long as he wants," but added "at some point he wants to get back home to his cars," alluding to Musk as the founder and CEO of Tesla, Inc.
In the meeting, Trump also praised tariffs and businesses which he says are investing domestically.
