Sir Chris Hoy has shared a "special" update amidst his ongoing battle with terminal prostate cancer. The Olympic cycling champion, diagnosed with the disease in 2024, has been given a prognosis of two to four years. Last year, Sir Chris shared his life story and cancer journey in a bestselling book, reflecting on the lessons he has learned throughout his life. The cyclist and his wife, who have two children together, son Callum and daughter Chloe, have been dealing with the challenges of his cancer diagnosis in recent years. Despite the difficulties, the family remains strong and supportive of one another.

The couple, who have been married since 2010, enjoyed a special dinner at a restaurant in Marlow, where they were treated to exquisite food and wine. They also received a surprise visit from British rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave, who came down to mark Hoy's birthday as he turned 49.

His wife, Sarra Hoy, took to social media to share photos of his birthday celebrations, saying: "What a birthday! Huge thanks to @cheftomkerridge and the entire team @handfmarlow for making @chrishoy1's birthday so memorable!".

Sarra's post continued: "Exquisite food, excellent wine, made all the more special by the addition of @sirsteveredgrave who popped in to say hi- on his birthday too!"

Hoy's wife is battling an aggressive form of Multiple Sclerosis, a condition she learned about soon after her spouse was informed his illness had advanced to stage four. Chris Hoy detailed more in an excerpt from his new book, "All That Matters: My Toughest Race Yet". He said, "The future is a great unknown for us both now", reports The Liverpool Echo.

"There are moments where everything becomes unsteady and life feels too precarious, especially if we think too much about the future and the kids. Will we be around to care for our kids, will they be ok? Sarra's treatment can only do so much and her condition is degenerative.

"But we find our way back from the pitfall of trying to predict the future. Sarra has found a characteristically courageous way to frame our situation, something we both come back to and feel grounded by."

Amidst their health struggles, the couple maintains an optimistic outlook. A birthday selfie posted by Sarra attracted a surge of supportive responses from admirers and friends. Paddy McGuinness cheered, "Happy Birthday to the gaffer!" while TV host Gabby Logan playfully chided, "Happy birthday—why are you not coming here for breakfast?"

Comments poured in applauding the pair: "What a fabulous photo of our two great knights! The other photos look great too!" and "Happy birthday @chrishoy1 - that food looks incredible! ! Hope it's been a good day for you both."

The outpouring of support persisted, with well-wishers saying: "Happy Birthday Chris, hope you had an amazing time celebrating with Sarra and the kids" and "Fabulous! ! Sounds and looks like the best day. Happy Birthday @chrishoy1! !".
