A flight attendant has shared advice to anyone worried about turbulence on flights - and why you should not be scared.

It is the time of year when places in Europe start to warm up, and many of us are planning our summer getaways. And while planning and going on a holiday is super exciting, the thought of flying can bring a lot of anxiety.

Most flyers will have experienced turbulence on occasion. It can cause the aircraft to shake around and can be quite uncomfortable and frightening. Sometimes it can last for a couple of minutes, other times it may happen several times during a flight.

However, a flight attendant, who works for EasyJet is reassuring passengers that there is no need to panic. Cabin crew member Kayleigh Weaver, took to TikTok recently and explained in detail exactly what happens during turbulence.

Kayleigh admits that despite now working on planes most days, she used to be a nervous flyer. She managed to get over her fear after realising that turbulence is a "very normal part of flying," she insisted.

Kayleigh said: "Let's talk turbulence. Firstly, I am here to help you understand what turbulence is. So, in simple terms, turbulence is the irregular or chaotic motion or air - this can be caused by so many things like wind, storms, jet streams, object near and aircraft, which is why you often may feel more turbulence flying over a mountain range."

She added: "As cabin crew, we often know before flying if our flight path is going to be turbulent - and our deck will often mitigate this by adjusting the altitude to find smoother air to fly through. Now, it's important to remember that turbulence is an extremely rare reason to bring down the plane."

She added that it is not dangerous, as long as you ensure your seatbelt is fastened. She said that is why so many airlines encourage you to wear your seatbelt, even when the signal is turned off.

Kayleigh, who shared the video on her page, @kayleighrweaver, added: "Guys, turbulence really shouldn't be scary nor are they something you shouldn't be worried about."

One individual commented and said: "I'm cabin crew, but still hate turbulence." Another former crew member said: "It's so strange, I worked as crew for years and now I'm petrified of flying I hate it."

"It's good but I get such bad motion sickness and turbulence make it sp much worse," commented another.

One suggested: "Best way to see turbulence is like a road. Not all roads are smooth and some are really bumpy." "Thank you for explaining this," added another.

One individual said they enjoy turbulence. They explained: " I absolutely love turbulence, it’s so relaxing and always makes me sleepy."
