Sainsbury’s customers can get triple Nectar points on their grocery shopping for two years after switching to one of its fixed energy tariffs.

The supermarket says customers who change their energy supply to Sainsbury’s Energy will not only benefit from “affordable energy rates” but they’ll get boosted Nectar savings as well. All Sainsbury’s Energy customers can get up to 8,000 bonus Nectar points by signing up to an eligible tariff, alongside earning up to triple Nectar points on your grocery shopping for the life of the tariff. Sainsbury’s Energy fixed tariffs are available for 12, 16 or 24 months, so if you took out a 24 month contract then you’ll have access to triple Nectar points for up to two years.

Both new and existing Sainsbury’s Energy customers who switch to a 12 or 16 month fixed tariff can earn 2,000 Nectar points per fuel (up to 4,000 points in total, which is worth £20 at Sainsbury’s or Argos), while those who switch to a 24 month contract can earn 4,000 Nectar points per fuel (up to 8,000 in total, which is worth £40 at Sainsbury’s or Argos).

Each Nectar point is worth half a penny, so 500 points will get you £2.50 off your shopping. But the value of the Nectar points can vary depending on where you choose to spend them and if you take advantage of any partner or special offers, which can sometimes boost the amount points are worth.

New and existing dual fuel customers on any Sainsbury’s Energy tariff also get two extra Nectar points for each £1 spent in Sainsbury’s stores (triple points), while single fuel customers get one additional Nectar point per £1 spent (double points), up to a maximum of 3,500 points per fuel for each year of their tariff.
