Britain’s weather is likely to experience a huge change as the Met Office predicts the possibility of cold conditions after a recent spell of sizzling sunshine. A noticeable change in the weather is approaching, with daytime temperatures expected to drop significantly nationwide.

Although the sun may peek through at times, forecasters warn that the warmth won't last much longer. Temperature levels are likely to plummet on Sunday (May 4) and be "markedly different" from the blistering conditions we've seen earlier in the week. Met Office meteorologist Honor Criswick explains: "The main theme over the next few days is that it's going to be feeling much cooler [...] particularly across central and eastern areas, and some locations could see a good 10C difference if you compare the temperatures to 24 hours earlier."

According to the weather experts, Sunday will feel much cooler compared to recent days, with temperatures falling slightly below average for the time of year. The Met Office stated: "We can expect mid-to-low double figures for many, and even single figures for those further north.”

On Saturday, Brits, especially those in East Anglia, might wake up to mist and fog. Mr Criswick continues: "There is going to be more cloud across Scotland, some showers feeding through across the very north", and the southwest will see more clouds and showers pushing up from the south.

"These could turn quite heavy, particularly through the course of the day, and there's a chance they could turn thundery", adds Criswick, reports the Mirror.

While much of the UK will start the weekend with dry conditions, abundant sunshine, and warmth, meteorologists caution that a notable shift in the weather is expected by Sunday.

Southern areas may see temperatures reach around 20–21C, while northeast Scotland and coastal regions along the North Sea will experience cooler conditions, with temperatures remaining in the mid to low double digits.

By Sunday, cloud cover is likely to increase, especially in eastern parts, accompanied by scattered showers moving in from the North Sea and affecting East Anglia.

The Met Office forecasts a significant temperature drop compared to earlier in the week, with highs of 15–16C in the southwest, while most areas will settle into low double-digit figures.
