Starting the week off on 5 May, a recitation of Winston Churchill's VE Day speech will be read outside Parliament Square as the Normandy veteran Alan Kennett formally starts the procession after being handed the Commonwealth War Graves Torch for Peace.

1,300 members of the armed forces will march from Whitehall to Buckingham Palace - King Charles and Queen Camilla, as well as the prime minister and other officials, will watch the parade.

Then a flypast of the Red Arrows and some World War Two aircraft will take place. Afterwards, the King and Queen will host a tea party at Buckingham Palace for war veterans.

Elsewhere in the UK, street parties, parades and concerts will be held.

In Manchester, the Lord Mayor will welcome veterans before a celebratory ringing of the bells.

Blackburn will host an open-air music festival while Shropshire will be putting on a large-scale VE Day picnic.

In Kent, Winston Churchill's family home will be hosting live music and family activities.

Over in Wales, there will be a street party in the village of Myddfai where those attending will dress in 1940s style clothes and have a sing-along.
