Tom Parker Bowles has lifted the lid on Queen Camilla's cooking skills - sharing that she is not very good at following recipes. Speaking of his mum on the Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware podcast, Tom shares that his mum still makes "excellent" scrambled eggs - despite not having to do much cooking anymore.
Sharing that, unlike his own children, he and his sister Laura didn't have a say in what food they ate growing up. Speaking on the podcast, Tom, 50, said: "We didn't have a choice growing up. My kids say 'ooh I don't feel like that'. No, that was it, you had lunch or dinner and that was it."
Speaking of Camilla being a "good cook", he added: "Scrambled eggs, salads, she [Queen Camilla] was a really good cook.
"She still does scrambled eggs."
Despite that, he revealed that she wasn't a rule-following when it came to being in the kitchen, adding: "Everyone says 'Oh you make it up' but that's totally untrue - she was a good cook. She wasn't a recipe follower. Get a chicken, put a lemon up its arse, put butter all over it, put it in the Aga, that's dinner."
Tom previously released his book - 'Cooking and The Crown' - last September. When it was first announced in early 2024, The Bookseller shared that it would feature 100 recipes - including everything from breakfast to state banquet dinner ideas. Tom has been a food writer for over 20 years and is already the author of eight food-related books.
Ahead of the book's release, Tom - a father of two - said: "As a food history geek, I cannot tell you how exciting it has been to write this book."
