A man has died after being hit by a van during a 'road rage attack'.
Emergency services, including police and paramedics, rushed to the Chadderton Roundabout off Broadway near Elk Mill Shopping Park just after 7pm on Wednesday night. A large cordon is currently in place as investigators work at the scene.
Pictues show a number of serious collision officers as well as others carrying a large white tent. An air ambulance landed nearby shortly after 7pm.
A man in his 50s was tragically hit by a van and later declared dead at the scene, reports the Manchester Evening News.
The driver of the van fled the scene and police are now appealing for more information.
An eyewitness said that the victim, who had been in a car, 'got out to speak to the other driver' before he was run over.
Firefighters were also present at the site, adjacent to the A627(M) slip road, where they set up screens to maintain the victim's privacy.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson stated: "Emergency services are responding to reports of a serious assault on Broadway in Chadderton this evening. A van collided with a male pedestrian, who sadly died at the scene.
"Officers are making enquiries to locate the offender. A scene remains in place alongside several road closures in the area."
