While the Bank Holiday may nearly be over, many of us are looking forward to more time off later this month. And with the weather looking brighter and warmer, it could be the perfect time for a leisurely walk.
Most of us have a few more long weekends ahead this year, and while many will be going out with friends, planning activities with the kids, or relaxing it home, some of us will be choosing to spend the day outdoors.
If you want to get away from your hometown and head out on a nice walk, there are plenty of options. Whether you're looking for a long, hilly hike or a shorter, less taxing route, the UK has plenty of options.
One woman insists that this stunning spot, with wild horses and views that make it look like you're "above the clouds," is well worth a visit. She cannot believe it is in the UK. On TikTok, @millie.margot said: "Would you believe me if I told you I am an hour and a half from Birmingham and these are the views?"
Millie, who has over 24,000 followers, felt like she was "above the clouds, on cloud 9".
Situated next to the charming little market town of Church Stretton, the Carding Mill Valley on the Long Mynd offers a lovely introduction to the scenery of Shropshire.
The area is very popular for walking, hiking and running and the route is considered moderate in difficulty. It typically takes around three hours to complete. The peaceful spot is filled with woods, hills and streams, plus you are bound to spot sheep, lambs, and wild horses along the way.
The National Trust says: "Enjoy a bracing walk, a challenging bike ride, a wild swim, have fun with the family or just take in the views. There are plenty of places to play and get closer to nature at Carding Mill Valley in Shropshire. Bring the whole family along and get set for an outdoors adventure."
There is also a 24/7 car park, a tea and toilet facilities open from 10am until 5pm. The best times to visit the trail are January through October. Expect the spot to be busier on weekends and during school holidays.
One individual commented on Millie's viral video, and said: "Carding Mill Valley is beautiful. Take in Stiperstones and the Long Mynd too for spectacular views into Wales."
"I'm five mins away from there, so lucky to live there," commented a resident. Another said: "This is 20 minutes from where I live. I absolutely love living in Shropshire."
"I love my home county, so lucky," said another grateful resdient. "Looks beautiful, that view is spectacular," added another. "My fave walking spot," insisted one other.
"Omg! This is gorgeous, I need to go," wrote one other.
