James May, a former star of Top Gear, announced he is set to take his Explorers show overseas. The 62-year-old is embarking on a new journey as he revealed plans for his new live theatre tour for eager fans. His show, "Explorers - The Age of Discovery", will delve into the stories of explorers who have ventured into the unknown. James is set to visit Australia, Singapore and New Zealand in August as pre-sale tickets are now available.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (March 26) he announced to his 1.8 million followers: "I’m going live, in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore with my new Explorers show. Everything from hunter-gatherers to astronauts, plus me, speaking." James was swiftly inundated with messages from his legion of fans as they praised the car-enthusiast on his latest adventure.

One penned: "Another great series! We appreciate your hard work."

Another commented: "I swear I'm gonna see you in Singapore somehow."

A third wrote: "Please say it’ll get recorded and streamed somewhere later!"

While a fourth added: "I can’t wait! Already have my ticket for Sydney. Should be a fascinating talk. See you then."

The show will use theatrical techniques and May's storytelling to create an evening of intellectual entertainment.

The stories will span from Ice Age migrations to space travel, bringing to life the tales of both famous and lesser-known explorers.

He will recount the journeys of those who risked everything in their quest for discovery with the likes of Leif Ericson, John Cabot, Tupaia, Stanley and Livingstone, Gertrude Bell, and the moonwalkers.

It will also touch on the challenges of interplanetary and intergalactic travel.

Fans shouldn't be too disappointed as the same live theatre tour is also coming to the UK.

The live show will tour the country from September and throughout October.

It is not connected to May's TV series, James May’s Great Explorers, which was broadcast on Channel 5.

Tickets for the show will go on general sale on Friday, May 2.
